[lame title justifies my lame short post? no, not even a little ; _ ; But I didn't know what else to wriiiite. </3 fo-give meeee]
The red lantern outside of the Izakaya was inviting. Daikichi had explained to his friend that he would likely arrive late, considering he couldn't leave his building until the employees he looked over had left. Nevertheless, he wasn't too far behind the appointed time. Soon after arriving, he was escorted to the room and seated...accepting a glass of beer from someone seated next to him.
It was easy to discuss work, though his private life wasn't much to tell about. It seemed he'd go home and feed his cat, sleep, and go to work the next day. It was a schedule he didn't mind, though this social event peaked the idea that he might end up doing a little more.

How Shingo got caught up in this whole situation, he couldn't remember. But a long time friend had approached him and said they were going out to some drinking thing. Social drinking was the only way his friend ever got out. So, of course, Shingo decided to go. He didn't care that Mimi had just told him he was going, or dragged him, literally, from home. Mimi didn't drive after all. So it was natural Shingo brought him over.
So here he sat, amongst youngsters and slightly older men. And it was only men, it seemed like. Deep blue eyes glanced around, surveying each to see who'd be the first to leave. Lining up so he could get out quietly. With any luck Mimi would be one of the first ones drunk.
Speaking, his voice was deep and captivating, or so his students had told him. "Mimi, give me another beer. We're out over here," he said, holding up the empty bottles and cups with an arched brow.
Shingo wasn't a bad guy. most people wanted to get to know him to find out the reason of his blue eyes and slightly darker skin tone. Only one other person knew the answer to that. Once again, he looked around and let his eyes linger on one figure. Had he seen Daikichi before? Probably not, but he looked familiar. Not like a teacher, or a student. "Salary man," he murmured to himself.
Then he noticed how they were sitting. Daikichi was sitting two people away, diagonally from him. He wondered if they'd get to talking. If not, it was fine. He had better things to do. But if so, that was fine too. Not like those things were important.

As the party drew into the first half-hour, Daikichi noticed that a lot of the people had dwindled into mostly paired conversations. At either end were the groups...And it didn't take long for the first lightweight to start acting quite different than usual. He smiled as he took a sip of a lightly frothed Japanese beer. The friend whom had convinced him to come had already been pulled in by a young woman and he was momentarily quiet.
The food was plentiful around him but Daikichi had yet to eat anything. He hardly drank with his meal, not even the traditional drinking snacks like cuttlefish or the like. He picked up a pair of chopsticks and took an ebi namban, placing it gently on a thin white plate before him and then eating it carefully. He leaned over slightly before setting the chopsticks down. The crunchiness of the battered shrimp was a good match to the beer.
It took a short amount of time for him to address another person. The purpose of these kinds of parties was partially to get to know other people...therefore he mustn't keep to himself. Daikichi usually gathered a few onlookers because he knew that people - particularly women - could or would see him as a potential target. There were numerous times where he'd be pulled aside after a party like this and heatedly asked for a date. While he wasn't interested in marriage...he'd often take an invitation.
Daikichi eventually left his thoughts and looked up, taking a casual look to one side and seeing that his theory about a large number of the attendees being in pairs by now. His expression as neutral as it normally was, his eyes eventually found Shingo. His first thought was that the other man had quite beautiful blue eyes. For a moment, he considered an introduction. He let his gaze drop and took another drink from his beer.
(thought about saying 'hello'! xD but it felt awkward somehow D: gomen ne)

Mimi had gotten Shingo the beer, and then was pulled away for a conversation which had gotten pretty heavy, by the flushes on the faces and the way the two men were so close. While Shingo was gay, he didn't flaunt it in the least bit like Mimi did. He took a new bottle of beer and took a swig from it before looking to Daikichi and gave a sigh. "And once again, I feel like the last kid getting picked in dodge ball," he said, motioning the other to scoot down a couple of seats so they were face to face.
Jerking his thumb at the couples around him, he snorted a bit and took another swig. "Seems you got dragged here, as well, since no one's pulled you away..." Shingo didn't feel like an introduction. Hell, he didn't feel like talking, but he was bored, and the other was the only one free.

Since one's purpose for coming to this kind of thing was social interaction, Daikichi's mind instantly set into that kind of frame. He watched from the corner of his eye as the man he had been glancing at before suddenly moved to a prime position to speak to him. His lips, having been set in a rather neutral expression, curled lightly at the ends. "More or less," he said, glancing sideways at his friend. "It seems I take part in these kinds of activities often enough for it to be socially acceptable."
He took a drink of his beer before shifting slightly. He didn't sit on the floor like this often enough, his own home didn't have low tables for this kind of thing. "I take it you are in the same situation as me?"

"Dragged here against your will by an old student pouting at you?" he asked arching a brow. Shingo wasn't sitting comfortably at all. Shifting, he brought one leg up, and had the other sitting in a half Indian style position. He took another swig of his beer and eyed the other with a sigh. He hated Mimi sometimes. It just irked him how the younger seemed to be a social butterfly.
The long, black haired man didn't even want to be here. But he couldn't tell him no. Drinking wasn't a strong suit with him. He was feeling the singing effects of the alcohol in blood and he gave a sigh. "I'm fixing to get out of here..." he mumbled, more to himself than to the other. He rubbed at his temples with his free hand and looked to the other. He wasn't that bad looking, he had to admit himself.

Daikichi noticed the other man shifting positions and was half tempted to do so. His mother scolded him inside his mind for even thinking of doing so. "Not a student, no, but a friend. Pouting, yes." He tilted his head slightly toward this friend, still speaking to the woman next to him. He did not blame his friend, no, but was glad to see that he was enjoying himself.
Though, the idea of getting out of that place sounded quite good to him. "If you do go, please take me with you," he said with very little falsity in his words, "Someplace a bit quieter would be nice." His gaze had brought him over to admire Shingo's features a bit, wondering if he was drunk...perhaps the excuse of taking him home would be enough to free him from this.

Take the other man with him? He was thinking about walking home, but he could stop elsewhere. Or so he thought. Looking around, he noticed the others seemed to slowly disappear. Whatever. They were all horny anyway, and Shingo really wasn't a very sexual person. Due to the fact he hardly had any experience under his belt anyway. Running a hand through his black hair, the teacher motioned for the other to follow him. "Goin' to my place. Don't know anywhere else that's quiet.
He patted his pockets to make sure his keys were still there and then gave a half sigh. Good. That made one thing reliable. He'd just get his car in the morning when he knew he'd be more sober. "I'm Shingo, by the way," he said, stopping to wait, giving a little bow. "Shingo Katori."

An invitation to the other man's home could easily be taken as a suggestion of something elicit, but Daikichi was never one to suppose and assume. The right steps would have to be taken if he chose to pursue that particular thing. Nonetheless, he was glad to go somewhere where with less social rules. Among a number of people, it was difficult to discern how to act. While he shouldn't be complicated, Daikichi would often make it so.
"Hatta Daikichi. Yoroshiku onegaishumasu," Daikichi said formally, bowing a bit as well. Though they knew each other's names, politeness was of Daikichi's nature. However, he decided not to hand his business card. Though this was normally what he would do, he preferred to give it only when he'd gotten one first. "I suppose a 'thank you' is in order, for rescuing me." This was one of the few moments where Daikichi would actually attempt something of a joke.

The polite formality made Shingo arch a brow, but he said nothing about it, merely responded and then smirked at the attempted joke. Getting up with a groan, the teacher looked for his younger friend and fished the keys to the car from him before returning to the others side. In all honesty, Shingo never thought about sex. He'd been transfered to this city for having something going with one of his students, so it made him uneasy to even think about it. Then again, this was another adult... and neither was that drunk. Maybe it wouldn't lead down that road? Who knew.
Once he led the other outside and got his shoes on straight, the long haired teacher looked around for his car before spotting it. "No need for thanks. ....On your part. Thank you for not caring about my .... not caring." Honestly, Shingo didn't understand why his apathy got him more attention. Well, he knew among the students it made him seem 'cool' or something, but it wasn't like he was trying to be. Shingo just hardly cared about anything unless it was art, or he was drunk. Or in this case had a good buzz going.
Unlocking the passenger side first, Shingo let the other in and moved around for his side, unlocking, getting in and easily slipping the key in the ignition. "Now...." He took a moment to clear his head and turned to look at his new companion really for the first time. Honestly not a bad looking man. Compared to his own feminine side, this man was quite.... manly for lack of better words on his drunken brain. Just the kind Shingo liked. "......Hm...."
