(For Bow)
Darren had actually cleaned his apartment, though that had just included stacking papers, and making sure the ten or so coffee cups were cleaned and put away. It was depressingly bare of comfort items. All he had was western style furniture, a tv, and book shelves stock filled with books of all types. There were no photos or paintings on the walls, and it screamed bare. The second room was taken up by the tanks and materials for the snakes, and the smell kept to nothing more but the pleasant scent of hay.
For the fifth time today, he walked from wall to wall in his apartment, wondering if the young man was even going to show up...

Bow felt REALLY stupid. Darren lived in the same building he did. After much pacing and calling himself an idiot, he finally decided to go out and gather food for dinner. He got distracted, and before he knew it, it was nearly dinner time. He was pretty sure that Darren wasn't expecting him anymore, but he showed up anyway, instead of going straight upstairs.
He knocked on the door of apartment 1C, shifting the plastic bag from one hand to the other. Why did he feel so much like he was going on a date?

He jumped, he actually jumped when there was a knock on the door. He had gotten out of his less stiff clothes into something more comfortable by now. He looked particularly rumpled, which was normal for him. And he answered the door like that, in a black, scruffy shirt, comfortable pants, and his sticking up at odd angles like he had ran his fingers through it far to many times.
His eyes widened when he saw who it was, and the smile on his face, while awkward, was genuine. "Bow! I didn't know if you were still coming." Darren said quietly, shifting from foot to foot before opening the door wider. "Ah..come in. " He was about to apologize for his state of dress, but thought better of it, and merely continued his awkward, shy smile and the faint blush.
"I hope it wasn't hard to find..?" He meant his apartment. He didnt know Bow lived in the same building.

"Thank you." Bow was his usual self, all smiles before Darren even said anything. He was dressed in his usual fashion, jeans and a zip up hoodie. He bowed his head politely, then stepped inside, toeing off his shoes.
"Not at all. Actually... I live just two floors up." He laughed, stepping further inside and looking around. Wow, this place was... sparse. "I would've gotten here earlier, but I went out to get dinner and I got distracted."

He gave him an odd look, disbelieving. "You're not serious.." He muttered, torn between laughing himself silly and just staring. He thought it best to merely close to the door and shake his head. "Well..that makes things..interesting I guess." He told him. Who would have thought. They must have missed seeing each other by sheer bad time schedules.
"Well, you obviously know where the kitchen is then." He said, shifting from foot to foot as he tried to think up things to say. He had planned this all out in his mind. He would fix yesterdays mistakes of him being an idiot, and Bow would not think of him as such. And yet, and yet..
He had forgotten everything.
"D-d..did you want to see the snakes now or er..dinner?" He scratched the bridge of his crooked, long nose, squirming.

LORD, this guy is so adorable.
Bow nodded as he moved into the kitchen, setting the food down on the counter. "Yeah, who knew, right?" He came back out, standing in the door way. He smiled at Darren, sticking his hands into his pockets. The way this guy blushed and the way he'd fidget, it was just too much. "Well, lets look at your snakes first. That's what you want to show me, right?"

"Yea..." He just started at him for a moment, unsure of the expression on the others face. He really wasn't use to this, at all, and there was a rather cute thing in his kitchen, cooking him dinner and he felt like a moron. He sighed, turning on his heals and shuffling to where the tanks were. The scent of hay was stronger in the room, but he kept it extremely clean, which showed. It was warmer, and the four tanks took up a good portion of the room. He was extremely kind to his snakes, giving them tanks much larger then you normally would have seen in pet stores.
He went right to a smaller one, opening it up without a care and bringing out a lithe, pure white snake. The cobra had been sleeping, and the warmth from Darren's arm woke it up enough to lift its hooded head, and peer around it it with pink eyes. It seemed docile enough though.
"This is snow. He has no venom what so ever." He told him quickly, just in case he was scared. "he was one of my first snakes, and I had him since he was a baby actually. He's very very docile." He drawled off, staring worriedly at the other. "Do..do you want to hold him, maybe?"

Bow followed Darren over to the tanks, looking around. It smelled good in this part of his home, Bow liked it. He looked in each tank, until Darren brought his attention to the cobra he was holding.
He got a little nervous, but Darren's comfort with it made him feel a little better. "No venom?" He reached out to touch it, but only briefly. "Is it okay? He;s not gunna bite me..?"

"Quite a few snakes are actually rather docile." He explained, carefully draping Snow over the others wrist. The cobra seemed content to just lay there, tongue flicking over the others fingers to smell him. "Only quick movements near their heads will actually scare them enough to bite them. Its the main mistake novice snake owners make. Which is why a good portion of my snakes were given to me." He explained quietly. "In fact, Snow loves being scratched." He showed Bow where, by rubbing the base of his thumb over the back of the snakes head. He seemed to still to enjoy the touch. "I wouldn't mind getting another pet, perhaps a dog or a cat, but I'm never sure what kind I want." The russian commented quietly, shrugging. (The scratching thing, my own pet snake LOVES it, its adorable )

"Really?" Bow smiled nervously, stiffening a little when Darren gave him the snake. He liked reptiles, but he'd never held a snake before. It was only human nature to fear something that could kill you. He relaxed a little, giggling [yes! giggling. he does that.] when the snake's tongue flicked over his fingers.
"I... I guess when you think of snakes, your first thought isn't that they're pets.." Bow moved his other hand slowly, scratching the snake where Derran showed him, their fingers brushing a little. "He's kind of cute.."

He flinched when the others hand touched his own, but didn't draw away. He stared at it for a moment before slowly taking his hands away, not a quick reaction he normally would have had. It was a good sign at least, he didn't think of Bow as disgusting, and the small smile that still was on his face at least said as much.
"I'm sure he enjoys being kind of cute." He said quietly. "My friend, she told me I was very much like my snakes. Cold blooded, only like very few people touching me." Which was true. He hated the personal space being invaded unless he could handle the person. "She had a point. But unlike these fellows, I don't shed at least."
He pointed to another tank, where a vibrant green snake peered out from the glass. "That is Cesar." He told Bow. "The others are still sleeping it looks like. " He could babble on and on about snakes, but he felt it was out of place some..
"Do you own pets?" He was hoping at least for something to talk about, and the almost desperate look on his face said as much.

"You're not really cold blooded... you just, uh... I dunno. It better than being a slut, yeah?" Bow smirked, scratching the snake on the back of the head some more. This wasn't so bad. In fact, maybe he'll get a snake.
...No, he won't. He needs an excuse to keep visiting Darren.
He settled the cobra back into his tank, giving him one last scratch before he stepped away. He turned to Darren, still smiling. "No... Well, I guess you don't know the rules, but... We're not supposed to have any pets like dogs or cats. I'm sure you could get away with it, but th land lord doesn't like it."

He arched an eyebrow when he used the term slut, and for some reason he blushed all over again. "Im on the opposite side of that.." He muttered under his breath, not wanting to tell the other the glaring, horribly embarrassing truth about himself. Only one person knew that, and he never lived it down. Nor did he live down the fact that after she figure it out, she tried to jump on him and ugh..he had ran screaming pretty much.
He put the lid back on the tank, giving Bow a knowing smile. "I have permission for my snakes." He told him quietly. The fact that he pretty much paid extra..now that Bow didn't have to know. "And I think I only want a dog or a cat because I want...comfort I guess." There was nothing nicer then cuddling up to a cute, adorable puppy.
"D..did you need help with dinner?" He asked awkwardly, shifting from bare foot to bare foot as he looked towards the kitchen. He really hoped Bow didn't get anything to..extravagant. He really would try to eat but..all he needed was an upset boy because he couldn't handle his food.
"Oh er...I didn't give you the sweets I got. I hope I don't fail at picking them out." Darren said gruffly, heading out of the snake room.

"That's good." Bow smiled, making his way toward the kitchen. "It's better to have a few people you trust." He ran a hand through his hair, stopping in the door way to face Darren.
"You can help me if you want." He glanced behind him into the kitchen, "I could teach you a little." His hands found their way back into his pockets, fiddling with the spare change they found there. "Ah, I'm sure you gor something good. No worries." He walked back into the kitchen, moving to wash his hands before he started cooking.
"You... you said you'd like to read some of my work, right? After dinner, maybe we could... go up to my apartment..?"

He followed after him, almost like a lost puppy himself(a scruffy, ugly mutt but hey!), and washed his own hands. He peered at him curiously, then the bag he had brought in with him before going to grab the drinks and the sweets he had promised the much younger male. He had spent quite a long, painful hour in the store, just standing, and wondering if it was even safe to BUY these things...but he had.
"Just tell me what to do-" Ugh, those words came out of HIS mouth? "So I dont burn it. And watch me to..or I WILL burn it." He wasn't even joking. He could barely make himself coffee without it failing horribly. It was a surprise he was even able to breath.
He seemed so, awkward asking him if he wanted to go upstairs after to read his stuff, the frown on his face said he didn't understand why. He really didn't think that way. "Of course." He gave him one of his shy smiles, offering him the sweets he had gotten. The drinks were oddly colored fruit things that he had been assured, over and over were wonderful and blah blah blah. At least they were caffeine free, which at least meant he was mellow..just twitchy. But mellow!
The rest of the sweets were not cookies, but little sweet cakes he had gotten from a bakery. they were just as colorful, and he was just as awkward giving them to the other.
